Scenic Europe by Train and Car: Lucerne, Interlaken, Paris and Prague

During our stay in Lucerne, we made our way up to Mount Pilatus – 2,132 meters above sea level, reached by the world’s steepest cogwheel railway. The ride up alone is an experience, and the panorama from the summit is the reward.

On the way to Interlaken, we stopped in Iseltwald – the small village on Lake Brienz that became world-famous through the series “Crash Landing on You.” If you’ve seen the show, you’ll recognize the jetty immediately.

From Interlaken, we continued to Grindelwald and took the cable car up to First. Afterwards, we caught the train to Wengen and hiked the scenic trail down to Lauterbrunnen – a walk where every step makes you understand why Switzerland looks like a screensaver. Waiting for us at the bottom were the Staubbach Falls, plunging nearly 300 meters in free fall.

From Rottweil, we reached Paris in just under five hours by train – one of the most pleasant ways to arrive in that city. From there, we continued to Prague by car, crossing through Germany and over the border into Czechia.
