Budapest City Trip from Stuttgart

Our trip started with a short flight from Stuttgart to Budapest – barely an hour and a half, and you’re standing in one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe.

From the airport, the bus took us straight into the city center – simple, affordable, and perfectly fine.

Once there, all you really need in Budapest is a good pair of shoes. The city is made for walking, with its biggest highlights close together – on the Buda side, the Royal Palace, the Fisherman’s Bastion with its sweeping views over the Danube, and the Matthias Church. On the Pest side, the Parliament building right on the riverbank, St. Stephen’s Basilica, Heroes’ Square, and the Great Market Hall, where you can eat your way through Hungarian cuisine from one end to the other. In between, the Chain Bridge connects both sides – lit up at night, it’s one of the most photographed sights in the city.

When you need a break from walking, a few hours in one of Budapest’s famous thermal baths is the perfect reset – the Széchenyi in City Park or the Gellért at the foot of Gellért Hill.

And for anything a little further out, the city has a well-connected bus and metro network that gets you to every corner without any hassle.
